Back in my mind, when i voted for the 15th Loksabha election in April this year i always thought BJP is the force to reckon with. Though results were not what i expected, i was always a strong believer of BJP (or rather NDA's) capability. But post elections, instead of learning some hard lessons from the drubbing defeat, top leaders of the party were busy mud-slinging on each other by shooting letters. As a final blow, Jinnah came back to haunt BJP in form of Jawant's book and one could easily make out that leadership of BJP was totally immature in handling the issue.
Now i am more than convinced about the fact that ideology & principals of a party are insignificant without an able leader. An authoritative leader whose decisions are unequivocal & whose stature is unquestionable is what BJP needs. One leader who could fit the bill would be Mr.Narendra Modi who has all the credentials of being such a leader but stains of 2001 riots still haunts him, in this age of coalition politics he is just not acceptable by BJP's allies. Arun Shourie & Jaitley look tech savvy, knowledgable & dynamic but they lack the persona of attracting the masses. One other option for BJP is Sushma Swaraj, an excellent speaker, a true delhite has the ability to pull masses as she has already proved in her former stint in Bellary, which was considered to be a congress fort back then is now BJP's safehold.
What is more diabolical for the Sangh Parivar is, BJP is not only running out of time but also of choices. On one hand Mr.Rahul Gandhi is identifying & building his dream team for the future with young faces like Sachin pilot, Jiteendra Prasad, Krishna byregowda etc. BJP's young brigade is recognised by the likes of Varun Gandhi. Its high time for Advani and Rajnath to clean up the mess they have created and leave the party to some young, dynamic & sensible people.
